Iranian ‘Elephantbird’ to go on screen in the UK

Iranian ‘Elephantbird’ is to go on screen at the 2020 Sheffield Short filmfest in the UK.

Iranian short flick ‘Elephantbird’ has been selected to compete at the 2020 edition of the Sheffield Short Film Festival (SSFF) in the UK.

Directed by Amir-Masoud Soheili, the film is an adaptation of an Afghan short story.

It narrates the story of an old man who has a turkey (Elephantbird) and plans to give it to his grandchild.

But the simple task of delivering the turkey to his grandchild is not that easy.

‘Elephantbird’ has been presented at several international film festivals, including the 23rd AVANCA - International Meeting of Cinema, TV, Video and Multimedia in Portugal, the 14th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia, the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy, the 2020 R.E.D. International Film Festival of Norway, and the 2020 Big Bear Film Summit in the US.

Run by Sheffield filmmakers, the SSFF brings together international short films to a diverse audience and celebrates the works of new and established filmmakers.

The 2020 edition of the event was previously scheduled for May, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, it was postponed to be held on October 30-November 1.
